Sydney Travel Inspiration

Sydney Travel information

When thinking about the best place in Australia to travel, Sydney is immediately the first spot that comes to mind. The country’s biggest and arguably most cosmopolitan city, Sydney is often mistaken for the Australian capital, and is easily one of the most vibrant international cities in the country. Known for its iconic, shell-shaped opera house that sits right on the harbor, for its sunny climate and the laid back disposition of its people, Sydney travel is extremely popular with both Australians and people from all over the world.

The first thing you’ll want to see when you travel to Sydney is, of course, the Sydney Opera House, which is as beautiful inside as it is out. If you have some time or enjoy classical music, you might want to see an opera or performance there, as it is considered one of the top opera houses in the world. Another famous Sydney travel destination is the city’s amazing bridge, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which spans across the harbor and is open to climbers with a sense of adventure.

Another incredibly popular Sydney travel pastime is, of course, going to the beach. Sitting along the southwest coast of Australia in New South Wales, Sydney enjoys some of the best of Australia’s coastal climate. Long, sandy beaches line the coasts to the north and south of the city center, some of which are very easily accessible by public transport, making it an easy city for surfing, sunning and ocean delights!

Being such a cosmopolitan hub, Sydney also offers its share of wonderful restaurants and a booming nightlife, thanks largely to the Australian sense of fun that pervades the atmosphere in Sydney and makes it such a pleasant place to visit. There are numerous top-notch restaurants to choose from here, including plenty of international fare as well as a share of Australian pub favorites and new haute cuisine.

Sydney is an easy city to get around in. Many of the city’s main shopping and sightseeing areas are accessible on foot, and there is a light rail system that connects to Sydney’s mainline trains, giving easy access to its many colorful suburban neighborhoods and, of course, the beaches. The main downtown area is located on the south side of Darling Harbour, including Sydney Opera House and the Darling Harbour shopping and entertainment district, all of which are within walkable distance from one another right in the city center.
